About us
What is the IA2C ?
The INSA ADN Concept Club is a prominent student-led technical association based at INSA Lyon, one of France’s top engineering schools. The club is primarily focused on the intersection of automotive engineering, sustainable mobility, and innovative design.
Core Missions
The club serves as a hands-on laboratory where engineering students apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges. Our primary goal is to design, build, and optimize high-performance vehicles that push the boundaries of energy efficiency and technical design.
Key Activities & Projects
Eco-Mobility Competitions: The club is best known for participating in international challenges like the Shell Eco-marathon, or the iGEM Competition this year (click here). We develop “Prototype” or “Urban Concept” vehicles designed to travel the furthest distance using the least amount of energy (electric, hydrogen, or internal combustion).
End-to-End Engineering: Members manage the entire lifecycle of a vehicle, including:
-
Mechanical Design: Chassis optimization and suspension systems.
-
Aerodynamics: Designing carbon fiber shells with low drag coefficients.
-
Electronics & Strategy: Developing embedded systems for energy tracking and race-day telemetrics.
-
Innovation & Research: Experimenting with cutting-edge materials (composites) and manufacturing techniques (3D printing, CNC machining) to reduce vehicle weight and increase structural integrity.
Educational Impact
Beyond building cars, the INSA ADN Concept Club functions as a professional environment for students to develop “soft skills” essential for their future careers:
-
Project Management: Managing budgets, timelines, and technical milestones.
-
Partnerships: Negotiating with industrial sponsors for funding and technical support.
-
Knowledge Transfer: Older members mentor newcomers, ensuring the technical expertise of the club is preserved and evolved year after year.
Why It Matters
The INSA ADN Concept Club is more than just a hobbyist group; it is a hub for future mobility solutions. By focusing on energy sobriety and technical optimization, we prepares our members to tackle the environmental and engineering challenges of the 21st-century automotive industry.
